![]() ![]() Fortunately, some clever software developers recognized this problem and created software applications that can bypass the manufacturers' copy protection and enable gamers to copy Playstation games and make excellent backup copies. Without any backup disks, the gamer absorbs all the risk of replacing the games at full cost. These games, while they may be sophisticated computer programs, are stored on a simple round disk that can scratch, be lost, or be stolen. If game disks came with insurance for loss or damage, it would be a different story, but that's not the case. This copy protection policy doesn't seem fair to most gamers. It's perfectly legal to copy a Playstation game for your personal use, provided you own the game that you are copying. They are in the business of sales, and take whatever steps are necessary to prevent piracy, but in doing so they have also made it difficult for you to copy Playstation games to protect your entertainment investment. ![]() Obviously, these game manufacturers don't profit from any copies that are made of their games.
